Facilities
Surgery is performed in our fully equipped surgery center (accredited by the California Medical Association's Institute for Medical Quality ) and you will return home the same day. Our surgery center has met nationally recognized standards for quality health care and offers a measure of privacy and cost effectiveness not possible in a hospital. Many procedures can be done under local anesthesia or sedation, ranging from mild sedation to deep unconscious sedation without the need for breathing support. General anesthesia, when indicated, is also available. All anesthetics (except local and mild sedation) are administered by skilled, experienced anesthetists. Our facility is equipped with a recovery area and all supplies needed to ensure a comfortable and safe post-operative recovery period.
Consultation
The consultation will evaluate your areas of concern and work with you towards achieving your goals. Our computerized image modification system may be used in the consultation to show your anticipated results. Following analysis of your features, health, and lifestyle, Dr. Hicks or Dr. Kabaker will provide you with a highly individualized surgical plan and answer all questions you may have.
We also encourage patients to return for a follow up consultation, if desired, to review the surgical plan and answer remaining questions.
Consultation Fee
A modest consultation fee, which can be applied toward your surgery, is charged for your first visit. Your consultation will be done completely by your choice of our two experienced doctors. Many clinics offer no-charge consultation, but often this is with a non-physician. These counselors are usually well informed and should be able to give you good information, but they cannot substitute for the judgment of an experienced surgeon.
Charges for Surgical Services
After a consultation, a quote is given and is good for one year. Our quotes include all costs: pre-operative tests, anesthesia, facility charges, the services of our staff, and medication. You are encouraged to make cost comparisons. In comparing, be sure you determine the total of all costs related to the surgery.
Deposit
A deposit is required at the time the surgery is scheduled in order to hold a specific date for you. The balance is due at the time of your pre-operative appointment. For your convenience, we accept MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and Discover Card.
Insurance
Cosmetic surgery is rarely covered by insurance. Many insurance policies, however, may pay for nasal surgery, the treatment of trauma related conditions, and upper eyelid surgery when vision is affected. We will assist you in filing your insurance paperwork to help you receive all entitled reimbursements. In selected cases, we will accept assignment of payment directly from your insurance company with pre-authorization.
