Combining Facial Cosmetic Surgery to Save Money and Enhance Results

by Dr. Kabaker

Combining Facial Plastic Surgery in Oakland Some plastic surgeons are noticing an increase in the number of patients looking to save money by combining plastic surgeries. While many patients are going for the overall improvement to their aging face or body by combining surgeries, they may not realize they end up saving money in the long run.

There’s one key reason why combination surgeries save you money. It all comes down to facility fees and anesthesiologist fees. If you have two cosmetic surgeries performed a few months or years apart, you pay the surgeon’s fees each time, plus the fees for the anesthesiologist, facility, and any medical supplies. By combining surgeries, you’ll only pay the fees to the anesthesiologist and facility one time, and this really reduces the price you pay. In addition, if you need to hire a nurse for the first few days of your recovery, you’ll save money there, too.

Many surgeries go together well. Among the leading procedures that patients like to combine are facial plastic surgeries like facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid surgery. Another common combination surgery is rhinoplasty and chin augmentation. Learn more about why these surgeries go so well together.

Rhinoplasty and Chin Augmentations

Researchers in Italy studied 90 patients who underwent rhinoplasties and chin augmentations. The purpose of their study was to see how long-lasting the results of these surgeries are and to see if combining the surgeries leads to better outcomes. The study found that those patients who underwent rhinoplasty lacked the same aesthetic harmony as patients who underwent both procedures. In addition, many patients who underwent chin augmentation too found that their new chin retained its shape more than three years later, making it a permanent way to enhance an ideal facial balance.

Rhinoplasty corrects perceived flaws or defects in the nasal structure. This surgery can correct a drooped nasal tip, draw in flaring nostrils, remove a bump, or fix a deviated septum. For someone who feels their nose is too big, it’s an ideal surgery for balancing the nose to the rest of the facial features. Following the surgery, it can take up to 10 days for bruising to diminish, and swelling usually starts to decrease after the first week.

To add definition to a weak chin, chin implants are used to help build the area up. With a stronger chin, the jawline becomes more prominent and balances the nose. View these chin implant pictures to see the difference. It also helps boost self-esteem in people who feel self-conscious with their facial features. You’re usually back to work in seven days or less. When combined with a rhinoplasty, you’ll be back to work quickly, and you do not have to plan additional time off later in the year for a second surgery.

Facelifts, Brow Lifts, and Eyelid Surgery

While a facelift benefits any man or woman who is concerned with sagging cheeks, jowls, and a double chin, it does not address problems on the forehead or eyes. If you also notice creases forming on your forehead, a brow that is slipping south, eyelids that sag, or bags under your eyes, a facelift does nothing to fix those issues. That is why many patients opt for additional surgeries like a brow lift or blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). Combining surgeries does not increase your recovery time, so you will not need to take off extra time from work. If you have the surgeries performed at separate times, you’re looking at one or two weeks to recover from a facelift, a week for a brow lift, and a week for eyelid surgery.
