What is scalp laxity? How does it come into play with FUT procedures?

Question:
What is scalp laxity and how does it come into play with FUT procedures?

Answer:
Scalp laxity can be thought of as how easily the tissues stretch when tension is placed on them. Everyone is different and some people have significantly more “stretch” to their scalp than others. This plays a role in both the height of the donor site that can be safely removed and subsequently closed as well as in the width of the scar that can be anticipated. Sometimes “loose” scalps may end up with wider scars due to the amount of stretch on the incision site during healing. This varies though and is not true for everyone.
